Glittering gold goddess wedding dress
Abigails vision for her wedding dress came from a childhood vision - one that I instantly knew the reference of - were cousins! In our local Ipswich Debenhams perfume department would have been a huge poster featuring Charlize Theron emerging from a golden pool for the Dior J’adore advertising.
Many of my brides profess to not dreaming of their wedding dress since childhood, yet at the same time, I wonder how many have deep-rooted childhood fashion memories that lead them to their wedding dress choices.?
Abigail was very trusting of my design and fabric choices for her golden wedding dress. She wanted a subtle all-over sparkle, and lots of flow. I chose a metallic gold silk lurex for the underlayer, with a fine French silk chiffon to flow in the breeze like a previous Wilden London design.
Abigail doesn’t like fussy details, but did was an all-ver sparkle that faded out over the hips.
I chose a tulle embroidered with glass beads and sequins and dyed it to match the golden silk fabrics, and embellished further with Swarovski crystal beads and jewels and gold and topaz shades.
Abigail wanted the beading to fade out over the hips, disguising the waistline of the wedding dress, but maintaining the flow. the French chiffon was therefore beaded by hand with components to match and blend in with the bodice.
Fine spaghetti straps were also beaded, and the low back framed and bordered with a golden lace motif.
The skirt had a split to give extra flow and movement to the dress, and give a modern evening dress feel, rather than a formal wedding vibe.
Abigail loved my Kitty Made to measure style, which I made for her as a surprise in the mini version. She was the perfect person to wear it, cutting shapes on the dance floor all night long.
The kitty dress is made in silk crepe, and neoprene skirt layers with cute tiered and scalloped layers which have a soft sculpted shape. It’s perfect for dancing!!
