Understated luxury, a chantilly lace dropped waist wedding dress for a wedding in Provence.
It is beyond a pleasure to create a wedding dress for a bride who has a passion for the intricate details as much as I do. So exquisite were the details that the wedding was selected to be featured on Vogue’s Wedding pages.
Sanne’s wedding dress, which she wore for the evening party reception of her wedding day in Aix-en-Provence at Domaine de Fontenille, was relatively understated; a quiet luxury. With Special details
A dropped-waist silhouette, with a close-fitting bodice, and skirts gathered into the hip creating a texture which is simple, and slim. a meticulously perfected neckline shape, however a scoop shape.
As ever, the most understated of dresses depends upon the details of it’s smallest components.
Now, clearly this dress has a large amount of finest chantilly lace, and some seriously beautiful and sparkling silver beadwork, and the dress remains effortless and graceful.
We achieved the tone of the dress - a translucent milky tone that has a sheer quality- but was in fact opaque was achieved by mixing layers of silk chiffon and georgette in nude and white shades, then overlaid with the finest of chantilly laces.
While the embellishments are very sparkly, they are used moderately and with care, focussing on floral shapes, yet trailing at intervals, and scattered sparsely on the dress, and then more richly at the hem and trail of the dress,
The neckline edge is finished with layered strips of chiffon with a frayed raw edge and the shoulder. straps embroidered with a vine of matching and sparkling glass beads and pearls.
The hem of the dress is also stitched with a delicate ribbon of sheer raw silk, which strengthens the hem, but also provides a dainty and pretty finish for those who may look upon it.
From each shoulder is a chiffon ribbon, embellished also with delicate vines of beads and tiny beaded flowers from the beaded appliqués.
A beautifully successful dress, in style and fit, purpose and detail. I loved every minute of making and gazing upon this dress.
