1940's styling, with nature inspired embroidery design

I’m often asked to embroider motifs with personal meaning, oftentimes things that out of the realms of typical bridal motifs. For Emily, her love is for nature and bird watching in the forest, so we chose her favourite - a goldfinch, and acorns and leaves. Emily loved the idea of tonal embroidery, and so each motif was embroidered in shades of the blush colour silks chosen for the dress. The acorns set on the shoulders like studded jewels, and the goldfinch bird in flight at the waist, like a clasp closing the wrap over effect skirt.

The bodice featured an internal boned bodice, with a squared neckline over layed with criss-crossing chiffon and chiffon puff shoulder bell sleeves.

The silk satin tulip skirt pleated at the front into a wrap-over at the side waist, with the overall effect being reminiscent of the 1940’s.

Despite best made plans, a summer wedding and outdoor ceremony in Britain, can sometimes mean - torrential rain! So this dress was accessorised with many umbrellas!
