Floral Embroidered Dress for Early Summer Corninsh Wedding

I’m lucky dogs don’t charge commission! Ella first became intrigued by my work after scrolling my instagram and finding a photo of my lovely Border Terrier dog Dexter - Ehe has the same dog with the same name, so I think figured we must be on the same wavelength!

While Ella was thinking of lots of floral embroidery, and speckles of gold and silver stars, Ella still wanted a subtle and ‘classic’ effect.
The dress was cut in two layers to appear like it had an under-slip with a v-neckline and fine straps, but had some structure (unlike a bia-cut slip), and integrated into the waist seam of the dress to give more control over the silhouette of the dress. The over-bodice is made from a sheer chiffon, which fits to the body, but rises higher in the neckline to a boat neck style, into a deep low v-back, with neat capped sleeves embroidered with the wedding date. The skirt fits slim to the hips and gently flares to the ground, with a daring split on one thigh, with a small train.
Favourite summer flowers were illustrated, including foxgloves and wisteria, and pansies, created with chain stitched threads and ribbon embroidery in white, on top of white silk chiffon. Multi-sized star sequins were hand-sewn in off-white, gold and silver. We also included Dexter with two tiny paw prints hidden amongst the flowers.
Ella also had a simple chiffon veil, speckled with stars matched to the dress, which was accesorised with a yellow floral crown.
